FAQs
What is a typical appointment?
A typical session last one hour, on a one to one basis, usually on Zoom or WhatsApp.
How do I know if I need therapy?
If you have been struggling with the same issue for a while, therapy could be helpful. It may be something in your personal or professional life that you would like to get a fresh perspective on, in terms of the way it makes you feel or behave, for example.
Do you work with couples?
No, I am not a couples therapist. I do work with individuals who may be having issues in their relationship with a partner or family member. My role is to help you in dealing with what is going on in the relationship. A couples therapist may also be necessary to address the relationship, and what is happening in the space between two people, that is impacting healthy communication and functioning.
What happens in the first session?
You have an opportunity to tell me about yourself, and the reasons for seeking therapy. This session gives us both a chance to see if we are a good fit. Do I have what you’re looking for in terms of support. Do I feel I can help you with your problem.
How long does therapy last?
There is no set timeline. It varies from a few sessions to longer-term work, depending on your goals and needs. If you feel comfortable in the first session, it is up to you to decide if and when you would like to meet again. I recommend once a week at the start so that we can establish a relationship. Depending on how much help you need, we can meet weekly, every other week, or monthly. It is up to you.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes, it is bound by a code of ethics. What you say belongs to you. Exceptions include immediate threats of harm to you or others, or suspected abuse.
Do you accept insurance?
No. I am out of network, but my fee is very reasonable.
How is payment handled?
Payment is made on a per session basis. On the day of our appointment, you can pay by bank transfer or major credit card and I will provide you with a receipt.
